Across Travis Street from Camden’s newer McGowen Station community, Camden Travis Street is the smaller and older of the pair, a 2009 mid-rise with studio, one- and two-bedroom homes. More than ten of its floor plans include built-in desks or flex spaces, which is unusual for a building of this vintage. Covered parking with direct elevator access to the floors is a practical advantage on a street where surface parking is scarce.
Amenities are straightforward rather than extravagant: a resort-style pool with WiFi, a 24-hour fitness center with cardio and strength equipment, a resident social lounge with shuffleboard and billiards, on-site dry cleaning service and a private dog run. Camden allows up to three pets per apartment home.
The Red Line is a block away, connecting to Downtown, the stadiums, the Museum District, Hermann Park and the Texas Medical Center. Camden counts more than 140 bars, shops and restaurants within walking distance, with Weights + Measures, Brennan’s of Houston and Gloria’s Latin Cuisine among the nearer options. Midtown Park is immediately south, and the Midtown Management District covers the surrounding blocks, running grant programs for area businesses including a security-camera grant.
