Market Square Tower is best known for its glass-bottomed sky pool, which cantilevers roughly ten feet past the building’s edge and ranks as the highest pool in Texas. The 40-story tower was developed by Woodbranch MST Development with Jackson & Ryan Architects and built by Harvey Cleary, opening in early 2017 on the northern edge of Downtown Houston’s historic district.
Behind the pool sits more than 46,000 square feet of amenity space: an indoor basketball court, a golf simulator, a movie theater, billiards and poker rooms, a ballroom, a demonstration kitchen, a wine room and a spa with steam, sauna and massage rooms. A second outdoor pool with cabanas sits lower in the building, the SKY 43 lounge handles bar service upstairs, and Georgia James Tavern occupies ground-floor space.
The building faces Market Square Park, which puts the Historic District’s bars and restaurants and the Theater District’s venues within a short walk. Management has also added guest suites and rentable event space, unusual for a rental building and useful if you host visitors often.
