Completed in 2025, The Heron Museum District is very new and still in lease-up, so its service routines and resident mix are not yet settled. The twelve-story tower rises from a half-acre site on Woodhead Street at the edge of the Boulevard Oaks Historic District, and its design borrows cues from the surrounding early twentieth-century houses and from the yellow-crowned herons that nest nearby.
Because the site is small and the building is tall, most residences look out across low-rise Montrose toward Downtown, the Texas Medical Center, Rice University and the Galleria. Shared spaces include a 100-foot pool, a sky lounge called Canopy, a fitness center with Woodway equipment and an infrared sauna, a screening room, and concierge and valet service. Plans run from studios to two bedrooms with optional studies.
The setting is quieter than a Montrose Boulevard address without being cut off: the Menil Collection is a short walk, the H-E-B Montrose Market is nearby, and Rice University is a little over a mile south. The Museum District institutions and the Texas Medical Center are both reachable without touching a freeway.
